Schreiber Earns Academic All-District Honors
LIMA, Ohio – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has announced their baseball All-District winners in their Capital One Academic All-America® Program, and the University of Northwestern Ohio was one of seven Universities and Colleges represented on the College Division First District team.
Junior right-hander John Schreiber was selected from the Racers, one of only two pitchers on the team. In order to qualify for a place on the ballot, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or above in academic standing with at least a 3.30 grade point average, the player must have attended the nominating institution for a full calendar year, and they must be a starter or key reserve player with legitimate athletic credentials. After nominations have concluded, all Sports Information Directors within each district who are members of CoSIDA vote to select their all-district team. The All-District winners then move on to the All-America ballot, which is voted on by the CoSIDA Academic All-America committee.
Schreiber, a 6-3 junior from Rockwood, Michigan, has posted a new UNOH record with 13 saves so far on the season, also setting a UNOH career saves mark (14) at the same time. He is 1-1 on the season with an ERA of 2.61 in 31 innings of work with 37 strikeouts as well. Academically, Schreiber is a junior with a 3.43 GPA in Accounting.
Schreiber will be one of eight pitchers eligible for the College Division Academic All-America® teams, which will be announced on June 1.
