EMERSON, Ga. – The University of Northwestern Ohio baseball team traveled south to open its spring schedule as the 19th-ranked Racers took on the No. 15 Keiser University Seahawks on Saturday.
UNOH (9-2) and KU (4-3) played a pair of seven-inning games on the day, splitting the results. The Seahawks claimed game one 3-0 while the Racers evened the series with a 1-0 victory in the second contest.
The Racers were held scoreless in the opener while game two was on the verge of heading to extra innings before a pinch-hit opportunity for James Cardona led to a walk-off home run.
Kyle Thomas (2-1) pitched 4.0 innings in his first defeat of the season while Jacob Hulcher (1-1) earned a one-inning relief victory. Damon Proctor started game two with six strikeouts through six shutout innings.
The two squads will meet for a second doubleheader on Sunday, Feb. 5. First pitch is scheduled for 11 AM in Emerson.
