Racers Roll in Pair of Victories

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The University of Northwestern Ohio baseball team opened its weekend with a pair of contests in Georgetown, Ky. on Saturday afternoon as the Racers took on Marygrove College and Georgetown College in a split doubleheader.

The offense rolled for the Racers (16-7) in both contests as UNOH put 30 total runs on the day. In game one, the Mustangs (4-11) were shutout by the Racers in a non-conference game that last seven innings, 13-0. Then in game two, the Tigers (9-5) were topped 13-6 by UNOH.

In the opener, UNOH capitalized on 11 Marygrove errors while putting together six hits and 11 RBIs. Kyle Fisher led the offense with a 3-for-4 performance with two runs scored and six RBIs. His three stolen bases were one shy of tying the UNOH single game record.

Damon Proctor (5-0) earned the victory after throwing 3.0 innings while allowing just one hit and no runs. In a non-save situation, Brett McEldowney saw 4.0 innings of relief and also allowed just one run. The duo surrendered two hits total and combined for 11 strikeouts with McEldowney edging Proctor with six.

Against Georgetown, UNOH recorded 11 RBIs off of 12 hits and nine walks. Fisher added three more RBIs and another pair of runs with two hits while eight other Racers drove in a run. Junior Gomez and Erich Gonzalez also added a pair of hits for UNOH.

Kyle Thomas (3-1) pitched 5.2 innings in the victory. Steven Amos and Jeff Rousseau combined for 3.1 innings of relief pitching.

UNOH faces off with the Tigers in a second nine-inning game on Sunday starting at 1 PM.
