Women's Golf

WHAC Tournament Champions

Season Result: NAIA National Championship Tournament

After a runner-up finish in a transition year last season, UNOH women's golf got themselves back on top of the conference in 2026 under the leadership of new head coach Phil Gunder. The Racers went 32-3 against all WHAC competition improving from 30-16 last year for the program's biggest year-over-year improvement since the 2016-17 season. They improved their team average by almost 16 strokes and claimed the WHAC title over last seasons champion Lawrence Tech for the program's seventh conference championship in nine years.

The team won tournament titles three other times during the campaign with the first two coming in the fall at the Maggie Mountain Invitational in September and the Indiana Tech Intercollegiate in October. The third came in the final event before the WHAC tournament where UNOH topped Grace by six strokes at the LTU Spring Shootout where they opened with their lowest round of the season, 307 (+19), to lead wire-to-wire.

Freshman Molly Douglas made a big impact in her first season picking up all three of the team's individual medals and earning the honor of WHAC Newcomer of the Year. Her 78.50 average was the team's top score continuing the program's tradition of success as the fifth straight individual medalist at the conference tournament and seventh Racer in the last ten seasons. Kudzai Mandava finished just a fraction of a stroke back from her teammate in the final averages ending the year at 78.64 with six top five finishes in nine events. Douglas and Mandava were both named first team all conference with another freshman, Luise Pekoll, earning second team honors. Pekoll would go on to lead the team on the biggest stage with her best 36-holes of the season at the NAIA National Championship where she shot 158 and finished in the top 50 before cuts in the field of 154 golfers. Riley Daeger saw the team's biggest improvement year-to-year shaving nearly 50 strokes off her average last season and setting new career marks for 36 and 54-hole tournaments at the TU-WU Spring Christmas Classic and LTU Heritage Hill Collegiate, respectively. She recorded her lowest single round score of her career in the second round of Heritage Hill where she carded an 88.

Kayla Watkins and Mandava were both named NAIA Scholar-Athletes giving the program more than one mention for four consecutive years with each also earning WHAC All-Academic honors.

Baseball

WHAC Regular Season Champions

Overall Record: 38-18

Conference Record: 25-3

Season Result: NAIA National Championship Opening Round (2-2)

The 2026 UNOH baseball team put together a historic campaign and cemented themselves as one of the program's top teams all-time spanning both on field and off field results. The Racers claimed their third consecutive regular season conference title marking the first three-peat in program history and the first for any WHAC team in fifteen seasons. During that stretch, UNOH has amassed a 92-11 record in conference play and have now won four of the last five regular season championships. The 2026 season was also highlighted by five victories against ranked opponents including a 12-4 win over No. 5 Tennessee Wesleyan who went on to win the NAIA National Championship, 21-3.

They earned a bid to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round played in the Lawrenceville Brackett hosted by Georgia Gwinnett. After losing their first game, the Racers stayed alive with back-to-back elimination game victories against No. 23 Marian and Talladega becoming just the third UNOH team to win more than one game in the national tournament and the first since 2018.

The 2026 Racers also had historic team and individual performances throughout the season including the program's most runs (38), RBI (33), hits (28) and total bases (40) against a conference opponent, setting all four in the WHAC opener against Cornerstone on March 13, as well as the second most runs (29) and RBI (29) at Lourdes on April 6. They hit .330 as a team marking the program's best batting average since 2017 and third highest in program history while finishing second all-time in runs (502), doubles (124) and RBI (460). The team's .443 on base percentage is a new program record topping the previous mark of .438 set in 2017. UNOH also earned a top five spot in the program's 15 seasons with 18 triples, 871 total bases and a .499 team slugging percentage.

Individually, Casey Barnes tied the program's single game record for runs scored with six against Cornerstone and Fabian Romero drove in the most RBI in a game since 2018 with seven at Lourdes. Romero will end his two-year career at UNOH with the third best career batting average (.377) and on base percentage (.521) in program history. Transfer Cesar Grau put together one of the best single seasons in program history setting new high water marks for RBI (74), doubles (24) and Multi-RBI games (23). His .681 slugging percentage was the second best all-time while earning 380 putouts on the defensive side, the program's third most in a season and most since 2018. He was named the WHAC Newcomer of the Year, becoming just the second ever for the program and first since 2021. Grau was also named NAIA Second Team All-American becoming the program's first ever non-pitcher to earn that honor and first at any position since 2018.

Eliomar Otero also set a new single season record reaching base in 45 straight games while scoring 66 total runs, the second most ever in a season. Otero's career comes to close in 2026 and solidifies him as one of the most prolific players in the history of the program with seven career records and finishing in the top five all-time in seven other statistical categories. His career records include runs batted in (194), hits (258), doubles (59), home runs (29), total bases (418), sacrifice flies (20), and multi-hit games (76). He ends his tenure with the second most runs (193), multi-RBI games (48), assists (438) and double plays (85) landing third all-time in sacrfice hits (16) and stolen bases (68) with the fifth best career slugging percentage of .581.

The team's lone Gold Glove went to sophomore transfer Zach Grigalis at first base who made history after joining his brother, Tyler Grigalis (2023), as the first sibling duo to ever earn that honor.

On the mound this season, Racer hurlers earned a program record seven total shutouts and tied the record with twelve complete games. Sophomore Daniel Healy tied the single season mark with six of those complete games and senior Zach Cabell was right behind with five. The two both picked up three complete game shutouts tying the most ever in a season while Cabell earned 33 looking strikeouts, the program's most in a season since 2017. Six of those came in a 12-0 drubbing of Lourdes on April 3 where Cabell fanned eight more batters for 14 total strikeouts, the program's most since 2021 and second most ever in a seven-inning contest. His efforts this season earned him three WHAC Pitcher of the Week awards making him the first player or pitcher in program history to earn a weekly honor more than twice. Grau, Healy, Zach Grigalis and Jordan Davis combined with Cabell for a program record ten weekly conference awards this season.

Another senior, Sinjon Bobolia ends his career on the bump with the second most starts (32) and wins (19) with 164.0 innings pitched during his time with the Racers, the program's third most ever.

Daniel Healy became the first Racer to earn more than one WHAC Pitcher of the Year award while becoming just the second player in the history of the WHAC to claim that title in consecutive seasons. With a 17-3 record in just two seasons, Healy will be chasing history when he begins his junior campaign needing just six wins to claim the program record for career wins.

Head coach Kory Hartman was named the WHAC's Coach of the Year for a sixth time while reaching the 500-win plateau against Cleary on April 11.

Hartman's Racers also set new records off the field placing twelve players on the WHAC All-Academic Team with nine NAIA Scholar-Athlete mentions led by the program's first ever three-peat scholar-athlete, Sinjon Bobolia.

MEN'S GOLF

WHAC Tournament Champions

Season Result: NAIA National Championship Tournament

It's been a successful five-year stretch for UNOH men's golf finishing first or second in the conference each of those seasons. The 2025-26 Racers broke through as WHAC Champions for the first time since 2023 and fifth time in program history after finishing runners up the previous two years. They won the WHAC Men's Championship tournament over Lawrence Tech by 16 strokes, the conference's largest margin since 2019 (UNOH - 43 strokes), giving them the season sweep in WHAC events. UNOH also claimed the team title at the WHAC Fall Preview in September by the same margin over the Blue Devils ending the year 29-0 against WHAC opponents. It's just the second undefeated conference campaign in program history (2018-19: 30-0) improving UNOH to 57-1 against WHAC teams over the last two years.

They claimed two other team victories throughout the season including the first tournament of the year at the UNOH Fall Invitational in August and a Development Team title at the Beaver Fall Classic in October. At the UNOH Fall Invitational, the Racers logged the program's lowest 54-hole tournament in program history shooting 17-under par over the two days. Their 11-under performance at the Music City Classic in April also landed in the program's top five all-time.

The spring half of the season also highlighted the program's biggest day over day move since 2019 at the Music City Classic where they fought through a tough day one to jump three spots from seventh to fourth in the final round. The Racers topped seven ranked teams in that tournament including No. 13 Marian, No. 14 Lindsey Wilson, No. 18 Cumberlands, No. 19 Hastings, No. 21 Indiana Wesleyan, No. 23 Southeastern and No. 24 Rocky Mountain.

The impressive campaign resulted in the program's fifth lowest four-player average in 18 seasons at 294.23 led by Guillermo Garron who averaged 73.58 over ten events. Jose Luis Vargas ended just a fraction of a stroke behind his teammate shooting 73.69 with the two combining for one individual title, eight top fives, and eleven top tens this season.

Garron was joined by Oliver Rogers with the two sharing the honor of Co-Golfers of the Year in the WHAC and both earning All-WHAC First Team honors. Kyle Sutton became the program's third Newcomer of the Year in the last five seasons while also earning All-WHAC Second Team.

The 2025-26 team was also successful off the links putting five players on the WHAC academic team which tied the program record while setting a new program mark with four NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

SOFTBALL

Overall Record: 27-22

Conference Record: 12-8

Season Result: WHAC Tournament (1-2)

Coming off the program's best season in its 13 years, UNOH softball found themselves under new leadership in 2026 but still looking to continue their tradition of success. The Racers put together a 27-22 campaign going 12-8 in conference play and finishing tied four fourth in the final WHAC standings. After tie breakers, UNOH earned the four-seed in the WHAC Tournament where they opened with a 4-3 win in extra innings over Cornerstone making it three consecutive seasons with at least one post season victory and eight times in the last ten years.

The season was highlighted by a historic upset of No. 2 Madonna University on April 11 where they handed the Crusaders their first conference loss since April 27, 2023. The 3-2 win marked the program's highest ranked victory ever and it's fourth top ten win in the last two seasons.

UNOH pitchers held opponents to a .271 batting average and carried a 3.55 team ERA. Thirty times Racer hurlers went the distance in 2026 marking the most since 2022 led by sophomore Lanie Wooten who logged 20 complete games, the fourth most in a single season. Senior Karsyn McGlothen climbed the ladder to third all-time in career appearances (97) and starts (59) finishing her career with the second best opponent batting average ever at .260.

Offensively, junior transfer Tayler Braun made a splash in the lead off position powering her team with 174 hits, the program's third most in a season, and logging the program's second best hit streak ever at 16 games, the most in a season since 2015. Braun's six triples this year tie for the second most in a single season while successfully stealing 21 of 23 times.

Sophomore catcher Cecilia Campbell was an anchor behind the dish gunning down eleven runners that put her second behind only her own record of 13 set last season. She also ended the year with a .995 fielding percentage which is the program's best since 2022 and second best ever. Campbell also earned the team's only All-WHAC First Team honor for her efforts.

Senior outfielder Hailee Edgell became the all-time leader in games played, taking the field 194 times over her four seasons and ending second with 14 career triples and third with 35 career stolen bases.

Seven Racers earned WHAC All-Academic mentions led by Edgell and Sydney Feenstra who both picked up the second of their careers. Edgell was also the only player to land NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors doing so for the first time in her career.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Overall Record: 18-11

Conference Record: 12-10

Season Result: WHAC Quarterfinals

UNOH women's basketball has been become a consistent force in the WHAC under the leadership of head coach Matt Vavro who concludes his fourth year at the helm. Vavro took over the program in 2022 coming off just three wins the previous year. In the four seasons since, the Racers have earned a place in the post season three times while setting a new single season wins record at 20-10 a year ago and the program's first ever WHAC Semifinal appearance.

The 2025-26 Racers continued that success putting together an 18-11 campaign, matching the program's previous wins record, and claiming the best home winning percentage (.824) in the history of the program. The year also marked the program's best two-year span ever earning 38 wins and the first time with back-to-back winning seasons since 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. On November 1, 2025 UNOH upset No. 23 Shawnee State 68-61 for the program's first victory over a ranked opponent since 2020.

Vavro now sits just twelve wins away from becoming the program's all-time winningest coach and sits currently as the only one to carry an overally winning percentage above .500 (.534).

UNOH averaged 71.8 points per game after setting the program record at 79.9 last year giving them back-to-back seasons averaging 70+ for the first time since 2009-10 and 2010-11. They also topped two records set last season with 29.0 defensive rebounds per game and 3.8 blocks per game.

Alysia Lawson began the year with 46 points against Great Lakes Christian, breaking her own single game record, starting her on the path to becoming the program's all-time leading scorer with 2,218 career points. She ends her career averaging 20.9 points per game, a program record, and now sits first or second in ten different career categories.

Freshman Lori Huffman fell just five rebounds short of the program's single season record but set a new mark for the program after averaging 11.6 per game. Fellow freshman Sanaiiya Gray also got herself into the record book logging 66 blocks over 29 games for a 2.4 average, both are new single season program highs.

Eight times a Racer was honored as a conference player of the week giving Coach Vavro 26 during his four-year tenure after nine total in the program's previous 15 seasons combined.

Two Racers landed All-WHAC Second Team honors with two also being named to the WHAC All-Freshman Team. Four players earned mentions on the WHAC All-Academic and NAIA Scholar-Athlete Teams led by Olivia Thompson who earned her second for both. Thompson also became the program's first ever three-time nominee for the WHAC's Champions of Character Team.

UNOH men's basketball wrapped up the third year of the Westerlund Era with a 9-19 overall record going 7-15 in conference play. Combined with their 15 wins a year ago, the Racers logged the program's best two year stretch since the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.

The 2025-26 Racers averaged 77.7 points per game putting them second all-time behind only last year's team (86.2) while holding opponents to 44.6% shooting, the program's best since 2015-16. The team's first win of the season came in overtime at Goshen College where UNOH tallied 112 points marking the program's third highest total and most in a game since 2013 when the record was set (117). On January 3, 2026, UNOH recorded one of the most historic wins in program history defeating Cornerstone 78-68 at Mol Arena in Grand Rapids for the first time ever after going 0-17 in the previous 19 seasons.

UNOH also hit a new milestone with 20 steals against Cleary in February toppling the program's previous record of 19 that stood since January 18, 2014. Their 16 made three-pointers against Bryant & Stratton-Ohio was the program's most since 2018 and their 57 total rebounds versus Wright State-Lake marked the most in a game since November 10, 2018.

Senior Antonio King highlighted his senior campaign as the team's leading scorer averaging 19.4 points per game logging 25 games with 20 or more points in his two-year career at UNOH while going over 30 six times with five of those coming this season. He averaged 7.3 rebounds per game in the 2025-26 campaign, the program's best since 2010-11, and 6.9 per game for his career, the second most all-time. His efforts resulted in his second All-WHAC First Team honor making him just the third Racer in 19 seasons to pick up more than one first team mention and the first since 2017 (Lawrence Jackson - 3x).

UNOH also swept through the WHAC Tournament to double up their titles for the fifth time in program history and first since 2019.

The team tallied 72 goals with 13 different players netting multiple times and 66 total assists, the program's most since 2016. The campaign was highlighted by the program's best offensive performance of all-time against Defiance where they scored 18 goals and assisted 18 times for 54 total points, all program records. Three different Racers netted a hat trick in that match with three more scoring a brace.

Mathilda Berg Karlsson became the single-game leader in points with twelve as part of a 9-2 rout of Indiana Tech on October 22 where she scored four times and assisted four times. Karlsson has tallied 63 points in just two seasons with the program putting her fourth in program history. Senior Vivian Purmonen scored eight times in 2025 and will finish fifth all-time with 25 career goals. Goalkeeper Sophia Eisner moved into second place all-time in career wins (36) and shutouts (20) with eight more combined shutouts on her resume.

With their conference title, UNOH swept the offensive and defensive player of the year awards winning both for just the fifth time in program history. Six Racers landed All-WHAC First Team honors, the second most ever in a season and most since 2017, with two more earning second team awards and one swiping All-Newcomer honors.

Thirteen Racers earned mentions on the WHAC All-Academic Team with Allyson Barger earning the honor for a third time making her just the second player in program history to hit that mark. Barger was also named to the NAIA Scholar Athlete Team for a fourth time becoming the first player in program history to accomplish that feat. Two others earned their second Scholar Athlete honor with seven more making the list for the first time giving the team ten total in 2025 and marking the fourth straight season with at least nine mentions.

MEN'S SOCCER

Overall Record: 13-5-2

Conference Record: 8-2-1

Season Result: WHAC Semifinals

LIMA, OH - UNOH men's soccer improved their overall winning percentage almost 20% from 2024 to 2025 going from .526 a year ago to .700 this season. The Racers also increased their conference winning percentage 15% going from .625 to .773 this season upgrading their conference standing from fifth to third.

The Racers averaged 3.35 goals per game, a program record, with a +2.2 scoring margin which is the program's best since 2016. As a team, UNOH racked up 175 total points averaging 8.8 per game with 67 goals and 41 assists, all the program's most since 2016. The season also included the program's best conference start since 2018 opening 7-0 versus WHAC opponents outscoring them 41-3 during that stretch.

Eguzki Hashimoto became the first men's soccer player to net four times in a single match doing so in 9-2 drubbing of UM-Dearborn on September 20 and earning NAIA Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts, just the third all-time and first since 2016. Hashimoto was quickly followed by Michel Tentchou who repeated that feat in an 11-1 rout of Defiance just ten days later while adding an assist for a record setting nine-point outing, the program's most ever in a game. It was Tentchou's second hat trick of the season doing so in back-to-back matches becoming the first men's player to net three times twice in the same season.

In his ninth season at the helm, head coach Tyler Brock picked up his 100th victory at UNOH and now stands with a 104-46-32 record with the program.

Four Racers were named All-WHAC First Team, the program's most since 2019, highlighted by the program's first Newcomer of the Year since 2019 with two more landing second team honors

UNOH was also well represented academically with an incredible 21 athletes being named to the WHAC All-Academic team more than doubling the program's previous record. Also, in it's previous 13 years of existence, the program had just five total NAIA Scholar Athletes but almost tripled that number in 2025 alone placing a remarkable 14 student-athletes on the list.
