UNOH Gets Walked Off by Point Park

CHILLICOTHE, OH - UNOH (3-9) never trailed until the final swing of the bat, falling 6-5 in walk off fashion to (RV) Point Park (10-4).

The Racers got the scoring started in the top of the second. Seth Freeman led off with a single and Eliomar Otero reached on an error to put runners on first and second. Josue Ortiz hit a routine grounder to the short stop but it was enough bring Freeman home for the first run of the game. After another ground out, Ben Jackson hit his second career triple to put UNOH up 2-0. The Pioneers put up one in the bottom but the Racers held on to a 2-1 lead entering the fourth. Eliomar hit a lead off doubled and Darius Freeman followed with a single to give UNOH a 3-1 lead. Point Park scored the only run over the next three innings as the game entered the eight with a 3-2 Racer advantage. Darius Freeman added one with a RBI single up the middle but the Pioneers matched with one in the bottom. Nathan Alvarez used a RBI double to put UNOH up 5-3 with three outs to play. A lead off double and a hit batter brought the winning run to the plate with no outs. Point Park took advantage and used a three-run walk off homer to take a 6-5 win.

Seth Freeman and Darius Freeman each went 2-4 at the plate. D. Freeman brought in two RBI while Nathan Alvarez, Josue Ortiz and Ben Jackson each had one.

Walter Long got the start and went two and two-thirds innings giving up one run, unearned, off three hits with two walks and a strikeout. Nick Johnson threw a clean one and a third innings striking out two and walking one. Rolando Heredia-Bustos tossed two innings with one run off two hits with two strikeouts and two walks. AJ Buchman struck out two and walked one over an inning of relief and Wyatt Johnson pitched two-thirds of an inning giving up one run off one hit with one strikeout. Jeremy Yurcak (0-3) finished the game giving up the walk off homer to take the loss.

The next scheduled outing for UNOH will be the WHAC opening double-header at Siena Heights on Saturday, March 18.
