Baseball Completes 3-Game Sweep of Miami-Hamilton
HAMILTON, OH - After run-ruling the Harriers 11-1 on Friday, UNOH made the trip to Hamilton for a doubleheader on Sunday. Despite giving up five runs in the seventh inning, UNOH held on to take game one 11-9 before running away with game two, 17-3.
UNOH opened the game one scoring in the second inning with Seth Freeman bringing in the first and Darius Freeman adding two more with a double. The Racers added one in the third with a bases loaded fielder's choice but Miami-Hamilton got three back in the bottom. After both teams went hitless in the fourth, UNOH took control with six in the fifth thanks to a combination of two singles, two doubles, two walks and two hit batters. The Harriers scored one in the in the bottom of the inning but the Racers answered right back with a Cy Kerber double in the sixth. UNOH went down in order to begin the final frame and Miami-Hamilton took advantage. After totaling just fives hits in the previous six innings, the Harriers strung together six in their final at-bat plating five but coming up short in their comeback attempt.
Darius Freeman led with three RBI while Eliomar Otero, Seth Freeman and Cy Kerber each finished with two.
Will Myklebust (1-1) went four and two-thirds innings to earn the win giving up four runs on five hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. Jeremy Yurcak threw one and a third innings of no-hit ball with two strikeouts. Wyatt Johnson got two outs in the seventh but could complete the third giving up five runs, four earned, on six hits. Eliott Traver faced just one batter but struck him out with runners on first and second to pick up his first save of the season.
The Racers started quickly in game two a two-out double with bases loaded that scored three in the first. Miami-Hamilton also got on the board with one in the bottom but UNOH added another in the second and two in the third. Over the next two innings the teams combined for six strikeouts and just one hit as the game entered the sixth with UNOH leading 6-3. A tight game blew open as the Racers took advantage of Harrier mistakes scoring eleven runs over the final two innings for the 17-3 win.
Joskar Feliciano and Cy Kerber both had three RBI in the game to lead the team and Darius Freeman led the way with three hits in five at-bats.
Sinjon Bobolia (1-1) picked up the win off the start going four innings with three runs off seven hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Nick Soller tossed two hitless innings in middle relief striking out five of seven batters faced. Jack Olberding and Eliott Traver combined for the final three outs with just one hit given up and two strikeouts between them.
UNOH opens conference play on Saturday with a doubleheader at Cornerstone before returning home for two against Rochester on Sunday.
