Baseball Completes Weekend Sweep of Lourdes

LOURDES, OH - UNOH baseball ran their winning streak to 19 games with two more wins over Lourdes on Sunday. Game three of the four-game series went 9-1 in favor of the Racers with a 12-4 nightcap to keep UNOH undefeated in league play and on top of the WHAC standings.

Lourdes jumped out first with a solo shot in the second inning of game one, but UNOH exploded for six in the home third to take control. The six runs were part of a five-hit inning for the Racers that also included two walks. The teams scattered hits the next two and a half innings before the UNOH bats came alive again in the sixth. This time it was a four-hit frame that produced three more runs for a 9-1 lead. Will Myklebust (5-1) capped his complete game by retiring the side in the ninth.

Myklebust had a stellar performance that saw him give up one run on five hits with a season best ten strikeouts without a walk. Noah Matheson was perfect at the dish for the second time in four games going 3-3 with one RBI. Tyler Grigalis and Eliomar Otero with both 2-4 with one RBI each.

The Racers went up 3-0 through three innings of the final game of the series, but the Gray Wolves fought back to tie the game with three runs in the fourth. The UNOH offense went to work from there ripping three doubles in the home fifth, scoring two, before Tyler Grigalis went opposite field for a solo homer in the sixth. Aided by consecutive walks to begin the seventh inning, the Racers pieced together a six-run frame blowing the game open, 12-3. Lourdes hit their own solo home run in the eighth, but it was their only hit in the final two innings running the UNOH winning streak to 19 games.

Devon Tukes, in his first career start with the Racers, had a monster outing recording a single, a double and a triple for a 3-4 performance that drove in a team high four RBI. Tim Hanible brought in one on his one hit but did enough to extend his team-best hitting streak to 16 straight games.

Sinjon Bobolia threw a strong three and a third innings off the start giving up two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Nick Soller (1-0) was in the driver's seat when the 3-3 tie was broken handing him his first decision of the season. Soller gave up one hit and struck out one over one and a third innings of relief work. Eliott Traver tossed three innings with one run off two htis with four strikeouts and one walk. Titus Groeneweg finished the final three outs in his first appearance on the mound since 2022.

UNOH will stay home for a make-up doubleheader against Siena Heights (13-17, 7-7) on Wednesday at 12:00 PM.
