LIMA, OH - UNOH baseball had a steady flow of offense through both games scoring in eleven of 14 at-bats in a doubleheader sweep of UM-Dearborn. The Racers gave up the first run of the day in game one but didn't trail again taking the win 11-5. In the nightcap, they had to battle out of a 7-0 hole but scored 13-straight to complete the sweep, 13-7.
After the Wolverines got on the board first to start the day, UNOH used a single and a triple to answer the score and added two more to take over the lead. Another triple and a single started the home second with a sac fly putting the Racers up 5-2 after two. UM-Dearborn kept addding runs with one in the third and two in the fourth tying the game at 5-5, but a couple wild pitches cost them two in the bottom of the fourth to put UNOH back up for good. Tyler Grigalis drove in one in the fifth with Eliomar Otero and Joskar Feliciano plating three more in the sixth giving the Racers an 11-5 win.
Will Myklebust went three innings off the start allowing three runs on four hits with six walks and four strikeouts. Jeremy Yurcak (3-1) scalped the win with just one inning of work giving up two runs, both unearned off three hits. Nick Johnson and Eliott Traver combined for the final three innings without allowing a hit. Johnson walked four and struckout three while Traver struck out one with no walks to pick up the save.
UM-Dearborn set the tone early with a solo home run from the second batter of the game. They finished with two runs in the first before adding five more in the third thanks again to a homer that plated three and put the Wolverines up 7-0. Finally the Racer bats began firing with three singles and double in the home third adding a sacrifice fly to cut into the lead 5-3 after three. A double scored one for UNOH in the fourth and a lead off home run from Nolan Hull in the fifth tied the game at 5-5 after five. The momentum continued for the Racers with two doubles in the sixth to give them their first lead of the game in the sixth. Assisted by four walks, a hit batter and an error over the next two innings, UNOH turned just three hits into seven runs blowing the game open for a 13-7 win.
AJ Buchman got the start and went two and a third innings allowing seven runs, six earned, off five hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Sinjon Bobolia (4-1) earned the win with four and two-thirds innings of strong relief work. Bobolia scattered just three hits while striking out five and walking just one. Eliott Traver earned his fifth save of the season tossing the final two frames of two hit ball with one strikeout.
Joskar Feliciano led the team on the day with five hits in six at-bats driving in four with two doubles and a triple. Eliomar Otero finished with a team high five RBI going 4-7 at the dish with two doubles and three stolen bases. Nolan Hull went 4-7 with three RBI ripping his first home run of the season while bagging three stolen bases. Darius Freeman was 3-4 driving in three with a double and three stolen bases and Tyler Grigalis ended the day 4-10 with a double and a triple while bringing in two.
The first-place Racers now have five days off before hitting the road for a four-game series against second-place Concordia (29-9, 18-4) April 20-21.
