Baseball Splits Weekend Series at Concordia to Maintain First Place

ANN ARBOR, MI - In a battle of the top two teams in the WHAC, UNOH completed a weekend split against Concordia to maintain a game and a half lead on first place. Behind a strong performance from Will Myklebust, the Racers blanked the Cardinals 5-0 in game three before losing a pitcher's duel in game four, 1-0.

UNOH scored all their runs with two outs in the sixth after Sunday's first game went scoreless through five. Joskar Feliciano doubled to drive in the first followed by a wild pitch and a walk that put runners on the corners. Both runners went to steal on the next batter presenting a unique situation. The catcher stepped up before the pitch to make a play on the runner coming home throwing off the pitcher resulting in a simultaneous balk and catcher's interference that scored Alphonso Franks from third and put Nolan Hull on base. Drake Miller then capitalized on the mistake rocketing the ball over the left center wall for a three-run homer and a 5-0 lead. Concordia was held to just two hits in their next two at-bats giving UNOH the win.

Tim Hanible was the only Racer with mulitple hits going 2-3 at the dish while Drake Miller led the team with three RBI.

Will Myklebust (6-1) earned his second complete game shutout of the season scattering seven hits while striking out four and walking three.

Game two on Sunday featured five pitcher's dueling out a 1-0 ball game. UNOH threatened in the fourth but couldn't get a run home with Concordia scoring the lone run of the game in the home fifth. UNOH could only produce four hits as the league's two top teams traded shutouts and split the weekend 2-2.

Sinjon Boblia (4-2) took the loss but was strong through five and a third allowing one run on six hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Wyatt Johnson tossed a hitless two and two-thirds innings in relief with three strikeouts and no walks.
