Racers Lose First Game of Opening Round 8-4

FAYETTE, MO - After a lengthy weather delay and a ten-inning game one between Central Methodist and Tabor, UNOH and Hope International finally got to play ball in what turned into a late night game.

With first pitch of game two just before 9:00 PM EST, the Racers dug a 7-0 hole through the first two innings against the Royals and couldn't overcome the deficit falling 8-4.

UNOH didn't get on the board until the fourth inning coming off a walk, a wild pitch and a RBI single. Hope hit a solo homer in the home sixth to make it a 8-1 game before Joskar Feliciano ripped a two-run shot in the seventh to cut into the lead. A wild pitch with runners on second and third plated the final run of the game for either team with the final nine batters getting retired in order.

Feliciano was the lone offensive bright spot for the Racers finishing 2-4 with three RBI in the game.

Michael Joyce (4-1) went five innings allowing seven runs, four earned, on six hits with six strikeouts and two walks. Jeremy Yurcak threw two innings with one run on one hits and Jack Olberding struck out all three batters he faced in the eighth on just 14 pitches.

With the loss, UNOH drops into the loser's bracket and will square off against (RV) Tabor in an elimination game Tuesday after the Blue Jays fell 7-6 to CMU.
