Baseball Eliminated from Opening Round with 6-5 Loss
FAYETTE, MO - UNOH didn't trail until the final run was scored as the Tabor Blue Jays rallied to score four in the final frame and steal a 6-5 win from the Racers.
A solo homer from Nolan Hull in the second stood as the only run of the game through six innings before Seth Freeman put UNOH up 2-0 with a RBI single. The Blue Jays didn't record a hit until the bottom of that inning stringing together three to tie the game at two after seven. Both teams threatened in the eighth but neither could get a run across sending the game into the final inning still tied. A lead off single and two errors helped UNOH break the tie before another single and a sac fly added two more and gave them a 5-2 lead with three outs to play. Tabor wasted no time loading the bases and a took advantage of an error and a hit batter to tie the game at five before walking off with a RBI single that passed inches by the glove of a diving Tyler Grigalis and ended the season for UNOH.
Grigalis was the only Racer with multiple hits going 2-4 with one RBI while Darius Freeman, Nolan Hull, Seth Freeman and Tim Hanible all drove in one.
AJ Buchman threw a six innings of no-hit ball but gave up two runs on three hits over the final two-thirds of an inning striking out six and walking three in the game. Eliott Traver allowed one hit in one inning of relief work with two strikeouts and one walk. Jack Olberding (3-1) took the loss after allowing four runs, three earned, on three hits over two-thirds of an inning with one walk and one strikeout. Jeremy Yurcak gave up the game winning hit but the runner belonged to Olberding to end the game and the season for the Racers.
