Baseball Falls to Bryan on Opening Day
DAYTON, TN - After rain condensed the originally scheduled doubleheader into a single nine-inning contest, the Bryan Lions got the best of UNOH, 5-2, on opening day of the 2025 season.
The Racers put themselves in a hole early in the game giving up three runs in the first but held the Lions off the board heading into the eighth inning. A solo homer off the bat of Josh Ledgard gave UNOH one run back and they added a second with a RBI ground out from Devon Tukes in the fourth. The Racers, however, were held without a hit over their next five at bats with Bryan adding two insurance runs in the eighth to hand UNOH a 5-2 loss in their first game of the year.
Ledgard and Drake Miller produced the only two hits of the game for the Racers with Ledgard adding two walks and two stolen bases to his opening day line.
Will Myklebust (0-1) took the loss after giving up the first three runs of the game on two hits to force him out early. Freshman Daniel Healy took over the reigns in the second and tossed four strong innings striking out five and walking two without giving up a hit. Nick Soller threw two in relief giving up two runs on three hits with three strikeouts and a walk. Jeremy Yurcak finished the final frame with one hit and two strikeouts.
UNOH will try to get into the win column on day two with two more games against the Lions beginning at 12:00 PM.
