Racers Shut Down Georgetown to Complete Four-Game Sweep

GEORGETOWN, KY - After taking both games on Saturday, UNOH repeated their effort on Sunday to earn a four-game sweep at Georgetown.

Game one of day two was tight through five innings with the Racers scoring one in the second and the Tigers answering in the fourth. Back-to-back singles finally got the offense flowing for UNOH in the sixth as they brought in four aided by a couple walks and a hit batter. That momentum carried over in the the seventh with a single and a double adding one before Devon Tukes ripped his third home run of the season to finish off an 8-1 win.

Devon Tukes led the team with three RBI finishing 2-3 at the plate. Eric Brown went 1-4 but brought in two RBI and Eliomar Otero tallied his fourth multi-hit game in the last five finishing 3-4.

Sinjon Bobolia (2-0) threw five innings to earn the win giving up one run on four hits with four strikeouts and no walks. Jeremy Yurcak finished the final two frames allowing just one hit with one walk and one strikeout.

The final game of the series produced little offense with both teams producing just one hit through the first three innings. A walk and a error in the home fourth set up the first run of the game on just the third hit of the game and gave Georgetown a 1-0 lead. The Tigers threatened again in each of the next two frames but were held off by the Racers both times. Finally, UNOH got the offense moving thanks to a lead off triple from Noah Matheson to lead off the seventh. Drake Miller finished off the inning with a two-out double that tied the game. Fabian Romero doubled in the eighth to put the Racers on top and a couple errors aided the final run of the game in the ninth and gave UNOH the sweep with a 3-1 win.

Noah Curi tossed four innings off the start giving up the lone Tiger run on just two hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Josh Mauney (2-0) was brilliant in relief scattering three hits over five innings with no walks and six strikeouts.

UNOH will finish off their non-conference slate with a single nine-inning showdown at Shawnee State on Tuesday, March 11 before opening WHAC play at home against Concordia on Saturday.
