Otero Named WHAC Player of the Week
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has named Northwestern Ohio's Eliomar Otero the WHAC Player of the Week for his impressive offensive performance over three games last week.
It was an incredible week for Otero who finished with no less than five RBI in each of his three games played. It started with a 4-5 performance in a 19-2 effort against Shawnee State on Tuesday where Otero ripped two home runs for the second time this season and tallied five RBI. He followed up with a 2-4 outing in the conference opener against Concordia on Friday hitting his third home run of the week and driving in five more RBI to help the Racers come from behind to steal a 14-10 win. The second game of the Cardinal doubleheader was Otero's only game of the week without a homer but was arguably his most complete game as he finished a perfect 4-4 at the dish with a career high six RBI in a 16-6 run-rule victory. He hit three singles and a triple scoring three times with a stolen base.
For the week, Otero hit .769 going 10-13 at the plate striking out just one time with a remarkable 16 RBI. Five of his ten hits went for extra bases pushing his weekly slugging percentage to 1.692 over the three games.
Otero leads the WHAC in RBI (33) and home runs (7) this season and sits third in slugging percentage (.730).
