UNOH Baseball Loses 8-4 in WHAC Tournament Championship

LIMA, OH - UNOH led early but Indiana Tech controlled most of the decisive championship game Monday afternoon winning the WHAC Tournament Title 8-4 over the Racers.
After losing the Indiana Tech in the first game of the finals on Saturday, UNOH had to play as the visitors on Monday but got out in front early with a quick pair of runs in the top of the first. A wild pitched helped the Warriors plate their first in the bottom of the inning but the Racers would hold the 2-1 lead through two and a half. Indiana Tech jumped ahead with two in the third adding one in the fourth and one in the fifth to go up 5-2 after five. UNOH finally broke through in the seventh using three singles to score two runs and cut the lead to one, but the Warriors answered again with three in the home half of the inning to take a commanding 8-4 lead that would hold through the end.
Brayden Lybarger (7-3) got the start and took the loss after giving up three runs on four hits over two and a third innings. Seven other Racers took the bump in relief combining for five runs, four earned, with six strikeouts and two walks.
With the Regular Season WHAC Championship, UNOH holds an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round for the third time in four seasons. The Racers now await the announcement of their site and opponents in the Baseball Selection Show that will take place Wednesday, May 7 at 5:00 PM. Opening round play beginst May 12 running through May 15 for a trip to Lewiston, Idaho for the NAIA World Series.
