Bio

Named head coach on June 18, 2009, Kory Hartman is the only head coach in the history of the University of Northwestern Ohio baseball program.

In 2018, Hartman was selected as a NAIA Regional Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association as the Racers posted a 43-20 record and make their first-ever appearance at the Avista-NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho. UNOH went 1-2 in that tournament, including a victory over #3 St. Thomas (FL), and finished #9 in the NAIA Postseason Coaches Poll.

Northwestern Ohio won four straight games at the Williamsburg (KY) Bracket to qualify for the World Series, outscoring the opposition 40-14 in doing so.

The 2018 squad also set single-season school records for at bats (2175), hits (705), doubles (133), RBI (466), home runs (74) and walks (254). In the NAIA national rankings, the Racers were fifth in hits, seventh in RBI, 10th in doubles and batters struck out (498), 11th in runs scored (490) and 16th in slugging percentage (.502).

Relief pitcher Jacob Hulcher was named as a Second Team All-American while starting pitcher Olivier Mailloux was selected as an Honorable Mention All-American along with the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year.

In 2021, Hartman and his Racers returned to the NAIA Tournament after winning the WHAC Tournament title over Madonna as the No. 3 Seed. UNOH finished the regular season on a 14-4 tear before going 5-1 through the WHAC Tournament including playing host for the WHAC Championship Series.

The 2021 team set a new single-season record for triples (20) and earned the lowest opponents batting average since 2017 (.262).

Center Fielder Don Goodes was named WHAC Newcomer of the Year. First Baseman Yadi Rivera earned the programs first Gold Glove since 2017 (Kyle Fisher). Five Racers were named First Team All-WHAC, Erick Castro, Drew Clavenna, Don Goodes, Christian Perez and Kyle Perrett.

Hartman earned his third Coach of the Year award in 2022 as his Racers repeated as WHAC Tournament Champions with another trip to the NAIA Tournament but also added the regular season title to their list becoming just the second team in program history to sweep both in a season (2017). UNOH ripped 67 home runs while hitting .328 as a team, both top 15 in the country and set a new program record with a .533 slugging percentage.

Yadi Rivera became the first UNOH player to repeat as Gold Glove winner and the third in program history to win more than once. Erick Castro also earned a Gold Glove for his work behind the plate, the program's first since 2015. Six Racers made All-WHAC First Team; Christian Perez, Bryant Diel, Tyler Grigalis, Shakur Jackson, Yadi Rivera, Alex Velasco.

The 2024 Racers were dominate in all facets of the game earning the program's fourth regular season WHAC title under Hartman going 25-6 in conference play. UNOH hit .329 as a team, the third best in program history, logging a single season record with 157 stolen bases. The team's pitching staff combined for a 4.21 team ERA holding opponents to just .244 hitting, both the lowest since 2017. Defensively, Hartman's Racers tied the single season record with a .970 fielding percentage while holding opponents to a program record .676 stolen base percentage.

Joskar Feliciano continued the long history of top shelf catchers for Hartman becoming the fifth to earn a Gold Glove. Michael Joyce, Darius Freeman and Will Myklebust were all named First Team All-WHAC with a program record ten players earning all-academic honors.

In 2025, Hartman led his program to its first ever back-to-back regular season championship going 26-2 in WHAC play, the most conference wins since 2017, and 40-15-1 overall, the program's most wins since 2018, to pick up his fifth WHAC Coach of the Year award. The team earned its fourth trip to the NAIA Opening round in the last five years and seventh under Hartman.

The Racers finished with a .431 on base percentage which is the second highest in program history. UNOH was led by Fabian Romero who set the single season records for batting average (.442) and on base percentage (.572) as well as Eliomar Otero who logged 67 RBI and twelve home runs, both the program's second most in a season. On the mound, Jeremy Yurcak became the NAIA's all-time leader in total appearances and reilef appearances making 29 in 2025, all in relief, to give him 108 total and 107 in relief for his career.

Freshman Daniel Healy was named the WHAC Pitcher of the Year becoming the program's first since 2018 and the first ever as a freshman. Healy also earned First Team All-WHAC honors joined by fellow starting pitcher Brayden Lybarger and closer Eliott Traver. Fabian Romero, Eliomar Otero and Tyler Huff also picked up first team honors.

Through 15 seasons at UNOH, Hartman has an overall record of 475-275-2 (.633) and a conference record of 289-96 (.751), including five years of 40 or more wins and 10 seasons of 30 or more, and has led the Racers to seven apperances in the NAIA Tournament (2015, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025) with five WHAC regular season and three tournament championships.
