Racers Rebound with One-Sided Victory
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Northwestern Ohio Racers returned to the DU Student Center at Davenport University to take on Great Lakes Christian College for the second day of the Davenport University Tournament.
After falling at the last second the night before, UNOH (5-2) rebounded in a big way with a massive 89-51 victory over The Lakes (0-12) on Saturday afternoon. The Racers got off to a hot start by taking a 44-20 lead into the intermission and were able to cruise to the finish line.
As a team, the Racers hit 54.2 percent from the field which included a 10-for-23 performance beyond the arc. UNOH also saw an impressive 54 points off of the bench and out-rebounded the opposition 43-28 on the day.
There were five players to reach double-figures in scoring as Xander Smart paced the Racers with 20 points off the bench while Trey Guilliam followed with 14 points. Sadeeq Bello and Kenny Lemon contributed 12 while Lawrence Jackson added 11 points and 10 boards for a double-double.
Amari Jones led GLCC with 10 points.
The next contest for the Racers is scheduled for Nov. 30 as UNOH returns to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference competition against the University of Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 PM tipoff following the women's contest.
