GRAND RAPIDS, MI - After a closely contested first half, Aquinas took control in the second and handed UNOH men's basketball their second conference loss of the week, 87-77.
The game produced eight ties and eight lead changes in the first half before Aquinas rattled off a quick 7-0 run to go up five at the break. The Racers were within four through ten minutes of the second half, but Aquinas answered with an 11-1 run to go up by as many as 19 with four minutes to play. UNOH didn't go down without a fight ending the night on a 14-5 run, including the games final seven points, but couldn't get back within striking distance.
Antonio King and Grant Pikkaart matched for the team lead with 15 points each. Pikkaart was nearly perfect from the field going 7-8 on the night. Alex Benson scored 13 off the bench with Malachi Black and Ryan Archey adding eleven and ten, respectively.
UNOH shot well as a team hitting 50% to 44% for Aquinas but were out rebounded 41-33, including 21 offensive boards for the Saints resulting in 21 second chance points.
The Racers will go one more time before an eight-day break for Thanksgiving. Livonia, Michigan will be the destination Tuesday, November 26 as UNOH takes on Madonna at 7:30 PM.
