UNOH Loses Double-OT Battle 89-88

LIMA, OH - On day two of the Hoops for a Cure Cancer Classic, UNOH men's basketball battled from behind against Bryant & Stratton-Ohio but fell one point short in the second overtime, 89-88.

The Racers had to erase an eleven-point lead early in the first half but closed the gap and trailed by just two, 35-33, at haltime. The Bobcats pushed the lead back up to double-figures to open the second half but UNOH shaved it back to just four with 13:31 to play.

A quick 11-1 spurt by the Bobcats gave them the largest lead of the game just two and half minutes later but the Racers kept fighting back and pulled the game level with four minutes left. The game stayed tight as time ticked down before two free throws with six seconds on the clock did enough to force an extra period.

UNOH took their first lead of the night to start the first extra frame but both teams matched blow for blow sending the game to a second overtime tied 78-78. The knock out punch was a mini 7-0 spurt for Bryant & Stratton that the Racers couldn't overcome before time expired handing them their second loss on opening weekend, 89-88.

Antonio King dropped a career high 28 points in the loss knocking down six of 13 three point attempts. Corey Chesley went 10-14 at the charity stripe while Caleb Chapman and Ajani Washington chipped in 13 and twelve, respectively.

UNOH will be off until Wednesday. October 29 when they travel to Shawnee State for the first time since 2019.
