Racers Finish Second at WHAC Fall Preview
AUGUSTA, MI - UNOH men's golf earned the No. 3 seed after a round of stroke play at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Fall Preview played at Stoatin Brae Golf Club. The Racers won their first round of match play 3.5-1.5 over No. 2 Rochester but fell 3-2 to No. 1 Lawrence Tech in the championship match.
Luke Turner led the way through the stroke play round shooting 70 (-1) to place in a tie for third. Hayden Hah also finished in the top ten with a 72 (+1). As a team, UNOH shot 298 (+14), one stroke behind second place Rochester, with top team Lawrence Tech shooting 285 (+1). Flight No. 1 saw Lawrence Tech down Lourdes 4.5-0.5 and UNOH defeat Rochester 3.5-1.5 to advance to the championship match. Luke Turner, Hayden Hah and Adrian Martin each won their respective matchups with Guillermo Garron halving and Noah Honinger taking the team's only loss.
The Racers fell to Lawrence Tech in the championship match 3-2 where Luke Turner and Guillermo Garron each won their matchups 2&1. Noah Honinger lost 4&3, Hayden Hah dropped 3&2 and Adrian Martin was defeated 6&4.
UNOH will play two more fall events before wrapping up the first half of the 2023-24 season. The NAIA Memphis Shootout will be played October 9-10 at TPC Southwind and the Egypt Valley Championship is slated for October 16-17 at Egypt Valley Country Club in Ada, Michigan.
