Men's Golf Opens Spring with Third Place Finish
COLUMBIA, KY - UNOH men's golf began the spring half of their schedule with season bests across the board. As a team, the Racers shot 880, a season low, after rounds of 295, 302 and 283 for a third place finish.
Frederik Voss earned his first top ten finish of the season in a tie for seventh with a 54-hole season low 213. Voss shot a 70 and 74 in rounds one and two, respectively, capped by a season low 69 in the final round. Luke Turner finished in a tie for 14th with rounds of 76, 74 and 67, matching his season best, for a 217 tournament total. Noah Honinger scored 224, Guillermo Garron hit 227 and Hayden Hah rounded out the team scoring with a 232, all season lows.
UNOH also competed with a B-team that finished sixth of eight teams with a 919. Adrian Martin bested his season lows with a 71 in round two and a tournament score of 222 as the B-team's top finisher in a tie for 18th. Ottawa native Zach Stechschulte shot 226 with rounds of 74, 76 and 76. Bruno Boado and Carter Schimmoeller also set new season marks shooting 235 and 236 respectively. Bernardo Umana competed in his first 54-hole tournament of the season finishing with a 252. Roman Leszinske competed as an individual shooting rounds of 77, 78 and 81 for a 236 total.
UNOH will hit the links again next Monday and Tuesday at the Garn Championship in Nicholasville, Ky.
