Men's Golf Predicted to Finish Second in Preseason Poll
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has officially announced the 2025-26 Men's Golf Preseason Coaches' Poll with UNOH picked to finish second. The Racers received four first place votes but landed just two points behind two-time defending WHAC Champion Lawrence Tech who picked up 138 points and seven of twelve first place votes.
The Racers and Blue Devils are the only two teams to win a piece of the WHAC title since 2017 with UNOH picking up three regular season and three tournament championships during that stretch. Lawrence Tech has earned titles in four of the last five tournaments.
Cornerstone (108), Indiana Tech (105) and Cleary (94) round out the preseason top five with the Cougars earning the final first place vote.
After a runner-up finish by just three strokes in 2025, the Racers earned a bid to the NAIA National Championship giving them at least one participant on the national stage for a third consecutive season. They return four of their top five players in scoring average last season, Jose Vargas, Oliver Rogers, Guillermo Garron and Jaiden Pass, with the only loss being Luke Turner who was second on the team last year. Two new additions will join the returners in Alfie Baldwin and Wayne Trace product Kyle Sutton.
The new campaign will tee-off at the Bluffton Golf Club August 25-26 with the UNOH Fall Invitational with the only fall WHAC event coming September 22-23 at Stoatin Brae Golf Club in Augusta, Mich.
