UNOH Motorsports Team Makes School History
Racing History in the Making: Aidan Hinds Gains Championship Title
LIMA, Ohio (July 25th) The UNOH Motorsports Team returned to Limaland Motorsports Park last week on Friday the 25th, with the six drivers featured in the previous race with their eyes on the prize for Championship Night. The Team brought three Bath Masters UMP Modifieds and three Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks to the track facing intense competition throughout the night.
Racing the Modifieds for UNOH on Friday were Aiden Hinds in the No. 01, Eric Kinney in the No. 1, and Dylan Drake in the No. 11. Driving the Thunderstocks this weekend were Parker Derks in the No. 1, Max Stetler in the No. 01, and Paden Hines in the No. 00 car.
Hinds set the pace quickly by getting first in qualifying for the modifieds. His teammates Dylan Drake and Eric Kinney qualified slightly further back, with Kinney landing in 15th and Drake in 18th for their qualifying positions. For the placements of the Thunderstock drivers, Parker Derks was forth quickest, Max Stetler was thirteenth quickest, and Paden Hines was fourteenth quickest.
When each class completed their Heat races, Derks started 3rd but fell back to 4th, Stetler going 7th to 3rd, and Hines in 6th for the Stock cars. The Modified Heat results Kinney starting 7th, Drake starting 5th, and Hinds starting in 4th and ending up in an early incident on track, however, he ended up climbing from last to 2nd.
In the main feature for the Modifieds, to gain enough points to win the championship, Aidan Hinds needed to maintain a good run throughout the entire race and stay in front of enough of the other contestants. He would battle using the incredible speed of his car and would barely be beaten to the finish line for the win, landing him in 2nd place, but with just enough points to secure the season championship for points over all. Kinney didn't have the same luck. A parts failure while lining up on track resulted in him being unable to participate in the main event. In the middle of the field, Drake had a good run going where he went from 15th to 10th.
After the race, the team would soon find out about Hinds' Championship title as it was announced over loudspeaker. Hinds proceeded to celebrate with his team. When asked for their thoughts, they had much to say in regards to their extreme effort throughout the season.
Driver Aidan Hinds when interviewed said: "It was definitely an unbelievable season, we started out the year hoping to get one win and very quickly into the season we realized we might have what it takes to win the championship! That's when our crews mentality changed every weekend we kept striving for better and better finishes, our maintenance and adjustments improved and we were able to tally off some very consistent finishes! Even though I made a lot of mistakes in the car from overdriving to just making dumb decisions my team never gave up on me and the season! We were down a lot of points going into the final championship night but we were all confident in getting those points back, we started off the night very good, but in the heat race I made a mistake and spun in front of the field causing the frame to bend and our tierod to get caught on the frame horn, by a miracle my crew got the car out on track and gave me something to compete with, and we crossed the line in second place just .037 away from a win but we came out of the season achieving our goal by winning the championship!"
Crew Chief Aaron Jesina voiced his thoughts on everything that had happened: "I am honored to be a part of the championship winning team. I want to thank coach Higgins and doctor Jarvis for trusting in me to be the crew chief of the 01 modified. I am very thankful for the entire 01 modified crew because while on the outside it looked like there were no issues, there were some major ones, especially after the heat race on the championship night. In the heat race Aidan got into an incident and while the damage didn't look bad at first, the deeper we looked the worse the damage was. The entire 01 crew worked very hard and there were even other members of the Motorsports team that jumped in to help us get back out on track. I am very thankful for all the hard work everyone put in to help us get back out on track to help us get the championship. I am very happy about being a part of the team that helped make school history and I am already excited for the next limaland season."
Car Chief Rodney "RJ" Seibles had this to say: "Can't believe we made history by being the first UNOH modified team to win a championship. Definitely could not be possible without everybody who helped. I know we had something last race night and we just kept pushing at it each week . And hard work pays off, it shows in the people you have around you. 3 wins and 5 top 5s and a Limaland Track Championship. I'm definitely proud of this team. Thankful for getting to be the car chief of this car . We qualified 1st and then started 4th in the heat race . We started the night 10 points away from the leader . We got 2nd in the heat race then we broke the frame and by the grace of God we were able to get the car on the track . Then we started 4th in the feature and Aiden drove his butt off to 2nd and the leader in points finished 10th. We won the championship but it was definitely a battle to the last moment. To God be the glory"
The UNOH Motorsports Team will run its next event on Friday, August 1st for the last race of the season. They will bring the same set of cars as this week to the track. As always, gates to Limaland Motorsports Park open at 5 p.m. on race day. Make sure to follow the Team on social media for updates regarding race days, special events, and driver lineups all season long.
Congratulations to Aidan Hinds, the No. 01 Team, and the entirety of the UNOH Motorsports Team on their Championship Title for the 2025 Limaland season!
