Racers Pick up First Road Win at Cleary

HOWELL, MI - UNOH scored two in the first and two in the second to earn their first road victory of the season 4-1 at Cleary.

It took 30 minutes to break the draw with Tomas Ulla feeding Michele Forapan in stride just outside the box. Forapan crossed first time and Bjarne Renner volleyed the ball past the keeper. Just before halftime the Renner notched again after the ball deflected off a defender and landed inside the 18. Renner tracked it down before the keeper could get to there and poked it under for a 2-0 lead at the break.

Renner helped create the build up in the 77th minute setting up goal number three. Tomas Echevarria found a long through ball from near midfield and attacked the end line. After beating one defender, Echevarria fought off another and split the ball between the keeper and a defender right near the right post. Henry Aicher was there to finish in an open net for his first career goal. Cleary worked hard to get one back in the 85th minute, but UNOH capped things off with one more in the 89th. For the second time, Tomas Echevarria created space and fed the ball through the Cougar backline. Corey Brouard took it in stride and kept the ball low under the keeper for his first goal with the program.

The Racers outshot the Cougars 20-6 putting ten on goal to just two.

Ross Synnott (2-2-1) made one save over 90 minutes to earn the win.

UNOH returns home to face Cornerstone on Saturday, October 14. Kickoff slated for 4:00 PM.
