GRAND RAPIDS, OH - After an even first half, UNOH men's soccer gave up two second half goals less than a minute apart and couldn't recover falling 3-2 at (RV) Aquinas.
The Racers scored early with Leonard Assouan scoring his third of the season in the 13th minute. It looked like the advantage would hold into the break but the Saints snagged a late first half goal in the 44th minute to level the match at halftime.
Aquinas took advantage of a penalty kick in the 52nd minute, despite an initial save by UNOH keeper Jack Cook, with the WHAC's leading scorer netting on the rebound to take the lead 2-1. Just 37 seconds later, the Saints notched again taking control of the game 3-1. The Racers got one goal back in the 61st minute with Natxo Sanchez bagging his team best seventh goal of the season, but UNOH couldn't break through again falling 3-2 on the road.
UNOH put eight of 21 shots on target with Aquinas hitting nine of the 18. The two teams combined for 28 fouls and nine cautions.
Jack Cook played 52 minutes giving up two goals and making four saves to take the loss. Alexandre Torres finished the final 38 minutes making two saves with one goal given up.
UNOH will return home Wednesday to take on UM-Dearborn.
