NAIA Honors Hashimoto as National Offensive Player of the Week
KANSAS CITY, MO - Northwestern Ohio's Eguzki Hashimoto was honored by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) on Tuesday as the National Offensive Player of the Week. Hashimoto was selected from a pool of conference Players of the Week for his performances over the week ending September 21.
Hashimoto led his team to two wins last week beating No. 24 Spring Arbor 3-2 on Wednesday before thrashing UM-Dearborn 9-2 in the conference opener on Saturday. He scored the opening goal against the Cougars and followed up with four more versus the Wolverines for his first career hat trick and the single-game program record. Hashimoto became the first men's player to score more than three goals in any match in program history and just the fifth player between the men's and women's programs combined. He is the first Racer to hit four goals in a game since 2021. Hashimoto scored his five goals on just seven shots including an incredible 4-4 outing at UMD.
The NAIA Offensive Player of the Week award is the program's first since 2016 (Pepe Cejudo) and the first national award of any kind since 2017 (Caio Preza). He is just the fifth men's player to earn national recognition in program history.
