FORT WAYNE, IN - UNOH men's soccer suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Semifinals Saturday afternoon giving up a late goal in the dying embers that catapulted No. 17 Indiana Tech into the championship match next week.
The Top 25 showdown lived up to the billing as the two teams neutralized each other and made chances hard to find on the offensive end. The Warriors put two shots on target in the first half while UNOH earned one but the keepers stood tall and kept the game scoreless at the break.
Things opened up slightly in the second half as Indiana Tech took six shots and the Racers took three but the quality of finish didn't improve and the game looked to be headed to overtime without a goal. With just three minutes left on the clock, heartbreak struck as the Warriors bagged the lone goal of the day and eliminated UNOH from the WHAC Tournament.
The top two seeds in the tournament advanced Saturday setting up another Top 25 matchup between No. 15 Madonna and No. 17 Indiana Tech for the title.
The loss puts No. 25 UNOH in the position of hoping they have done enough this season to earn an at-large bid to the national tournament in two weeks. The NAIA Men's Soccer Selection show will take place Friday, November 14 at 5:00 PM and can be watched on the NAIA YouTube channel.
