Bio

Tyler Brock was named as the second men’s soccer head coach in UNOH program history on May 25, 2017. He came to UNOH after 21 years with the Union Bulldogs in Barbourville, Kentucky. During those years, he spent 14 as the head coach for the Bulldogs men’s soccer team and helped build the program into a top-10 team in the NAIA. During his last season, Union was nationally ranked #7 and finished 19-3-2 with a trip to the Elite 8 in the NAIA National Championships.

While at UC, he posted a 143-122-24 overall record and led the Bulldogs to their best season in program history in 2016. Union set program records for most wins with 19, the highest winning percentage (0.822), and most shutouts with 12. The Bulldogs also won both the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) regular season and tournament championships. This marked the first time in program history Union swept both conference titles in the same season. 2016 also marked back-to-back seasons the team qualified for the NAIA National Championship tournament.

Brock’s tenure at Union included 14 former players playing at the next level with professional contracts. He was also named AAC Coach of the Year in 2008 and 2016 while also claiming back-to-back NSCAA East Region Coach of the Year honors in 2015 and 2016.

Brock also coached the Bulldogs’ women’s team in 2003 as he led the squad to a 14-6-2 record and the AAC regular season championship. During that season, he was named the AAC Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year as he led the squad to the 2003 NAIA Women’s Soccer National Tournament.

Along with his time at Union, Brock also served as an assistant coach in the semiprofessional ranks with the National Premier Soccer League and the United States Soccer League, with the most recent being a two-year stint with the Knoxville Force of the NPSL.

As a player, Brock competed for Union as a goalkeeper and set the program record for the best goals against average during the 1997 season with a 0.7 mark while being named to the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention team.

Brock is coming off an 8-7-4 season that saw the Racers go 6-3-3 in conference play. One player earned All-WHAC Second Team honors, Natxo Sanchez, with one landing on the WHAC All-Academic Team, Devid Sturgis. With many new faces on the team, four players landed on the WHAC All-Newcomer Team tying the program's record in a single season.

In 2023, Brock's Racers finished 7-9-4 overall and 6-3-2 in conference play falling in the WHAC Semifinals. He placed two players on the All-WHAC First Team, Tomas Echevarria and Jovaunn Ramos, with eight landing on the WHAC All-Acadamic team, the program's most since 2017.

In 2022, UNOH put together a 14-3-4 season that saw Brock's Racers go 8-1-2 in conference play with a 3-2 double-overtime loss in the WHAC Semifinals. UNOH fell in the First Round of the NAIA Tournament after missing out in 2021 for the first time since 2018. Tomas Echevarria became the first All-American since 2019 with a Third Team selection while Nic Baigrie picked up his second Honorable Mention.

Both Echevarria and Baigrie were also named to the OSCA NCAA DII/NAIA Team with First Team All-WHAC honors. Lucas Vazquez also joined the two on the conference’s First Team with Kuba Kacperski, Jovaunn Ramos and Simon Von Benzon making the Second Team list. Those three freshmen were also named to the WHAC’s All-Newcomer Team.

Northwestern Ohio shared the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference regular-season title with Madonna in 2018 as the Racers finished 14-4-2 overall and 10-1 in the WHAC. In 2019, the Racers made it all the way to the Elite 8 of NAIA National Tournament. UNOH finished with a record of 14-4-6. Five players were named 1st team All-Conference in 2019 as well as having three All Americans.

Sophomore midfielder Luka Pekovic was named as the conference's Defensive Player of the Year and was selected as a NAIA Honorable Mention All-American with freshman defender Mikhail Radchenko while senior midfielder Felipe Lupion was chosen as a Third Team All-American.

Those three players were also selected First Team All-WHAC while sophomore defender Marc Skelton was named to the Second Team and senior defender Jack Lewis, freshman forward Shea Mannings and freshman midfielders Mutu Raza and Lucas Vazquez received All-Newcomer Team honors.

In his first season at the helm of the Racers in 2017, Brock’s team came alive in the postseason, posting three consecutive shutouts to win the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament title despite being the #4 seed. Northwestern Ohio then made its fourth straight appearance in the NAIA Tournament and finished 14-6-1 overall, 8-3 in the WHAC.

Two players earned All-American honors as senior midfielder Pascal Debowiak was selected to Third Team while junior defender Harry Robinson was named to the Honorable Mention Team. Debowiak, Robinson and sophomore midfielder Pepe Cejudo were each chosen First Team All-WHAC while freshman midfielder Luka Pekovic was selected to the All-Newcomer Team.
