Men's Tennis Comes Up Short Against GGC in NAIA Semifinals

MOBILE, AL - For the third straight year, UNOH men's tennis saw their post season run come to an end at the hands of Georgia Gwinnett, 4-2, and the second consecutive in the NAIA Semifinals. The Racers, however, hold bragging rights as the only team to score against the Griz in this year's tournament and just the second team to score against them in the last eight years.

After getting blanked 4-0 the last two seasons, the Racers earned their first ever point against the nine-time defending National Champion Grizzlies, and the first for any team in the NAIA tournament since 2021. UNOH took doubles two and three 6-2 and 6-4, respectively. Lucas Perez and Sergio Conde were responsible for the number two win with Mathieu Strauss and Nils Messin teaming up in number three.

The only singles point for UNOH came on court three with Malik Omarkhanov winning convincingly, 6-2, 6-2. Sergio Conde lost 4-6, 4-6 on court one, Mathieu Strauss fell on court four 3-6, 4-6, Lucas Perez took the loss 2-6, 1-6 on court five and Nils Messin gave up the final point 3-6, 0-6 on court six. Martin Stanchev went unfinished on court two trailing 1-5 in a tie breaker set after going 4-6, 6-1 in the first two.
