Racers Finish 7-3 in Florida with Two Wins on Day Five

CLERMONT, FL - UNOH (11-8) wrapped up their Florida trip with two run-rule wins over Judson (2-9) and Carlow (2-10) on Friday, March 10. The Racers took care of the Eagles 10-0 before finishing the week with an 8-0 win over the Celtics.
Game 1: UNOH 10 Judson 0 (5 Innings)
The first six batters went down in order, but UNOH exploded for seven in the second. Payton Albright brought in the first and Alexis D'Alexander doubled to score three more. Chloe Goulter hit a RBI single to score the fifth and Tess Denning blasted her second career triple down the the left field line to bring home two more. Up 7-0, the Racers used a double steal to add another in the third. Anna Ankney put up the ninth run with a RBI single and scored the tenth off an error in right field for the tenth. UNOH loaded the bases in the fifth but couldn't add any runs. Judson went down in order in the bottom to give the Racers the win.
Alexis D'Alexander led the team with three RBI. Chloe Goulter and Zoe Johnson were both 2-3 with Anna Ankney, Dani Keighley, Payton Albright, Goulter and D'Alexander each recording a RBI in the game. Zoe Johnson matched the program record with three stolen bases while Chloe Goulter, Sidney Unger and Megan Miller each finished with two. Goulter's two steals sets a new single-season mark giving her 13 this year (Grace Jackson - 12). All told, six different Racers combined for a program record eleven steals in the game topping the previous record of eight (Alice Lloyd - 2017).
Carlie Hanes (6-2) picked up the win with four innings of work giving up just two hits with three strikeouts and a walk. Kiya Benschoter threw a clean final inning to finish the game.
Game 2: UNOH 8 Carlow 0 (5 Innings)
UNOH retired the side to start the game and opened up the bottom with back-to-back singles. Two stolen bases put the runners on second and third and a Tess Denning sac fly brought home the first run of the game. Anna Ankney followed with a double that scored one and Dani Keighley sent a two-run shot to left field to put the Racers up 4-0 after one. The teams combined for just one hit over the next nine batters before UNOH got their offense grooving again. Anna Ankney got on with a single and used an errant throw from the catcher on a steal attempt to find her way home. Dani Keighley singled and Zoe Johnson cleared her second home run of the season for two more. The game stayed 7-0 into the bottom of the fifth inning and an error put Megan Miller on third. After Autumn Pelok walked, a delayed double steal played Miller from third and gave UNOH the run-rule victory.
Anna Ankney and Dani Keighley were both a perfect 2-2 at the plate. Keighley finished with two RBI and Ankney had one. Zoe Johnson brought in two RBI for her first multi-RBI game of the season. Chloe Goulter earned her third straight game with multiple stolen bases as the team combined for six total steals, matching the program's third most all-time. The Racers now have 44 stolen bases this season, besting the program record set last season (41).
Jaylyn Mullenax (4-2) pitched her first complete game shut out for the win giving up just one hit over five innings with four strikeouts.
After 10 days off, UNOH will head to Rio Grande for a 3:00 PM double-header.
