Ankney Selected WHAC Player of the Week
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has named Northwestern Ohio's Anna Ankney Player of the Week for the week ending March 12.
Ankney was major contributer to the Racers' success during their spring trip to Florida. She hit .542 for the week while slugging 1.292 and racking up 16 RBI with four home runs. Ankney set a new career mark with five RBI against Calumet and brought in multiple RBI five times during the trip. She also anchored the Racers defensively with twelve putouts and twelve assists making just one error in 25 chances.
Ankney is tied for the team lead with a season batting average of .407 while slugging a team high .814. She has 23 RBI, 19 runs scored, nine doubles and five home runs this season, all team highs.
Ankney joines teammate Jaylyn Mullenax to sweep the WHAC Softball weekly awards for the first time since 2018.
