Lourdes
LIMA, OH – UNOH (19-12, 8-2) rode another strong performance by Carlie Hanes to their eighth shutout of the season in a 3-0 game one victory. Lourdes (5-19, 0-8) managed to get their offense going in game two, but the Racers battled out a 7-4 win for their eighth straight.
Game 1: UNOH 3 Lourdes 0
UNOH did all of their offensive work in the second inning with a Payton Albright two-RBI single up the gut and a throwing error from the catcher that scored Albright. Both pitchers stayed in control allowing just three combined hits down the stretch.
Carlie Hanes (11-5) went the distance for the eleventh time to pick up her fifth complete game shutout of the season. Hanes gave up just four hits over her seven innings while striking out five and walking one.
Game 2: UNOH 7 Lourdes 4
The Racers again scored three in the home second after stringing together four hits and a walk. Dani Keighley started with a double to left center and Zoe Johnson followed with her own double to right. After Peyton Albright walked, Autumn Pelok used a gap shot to score one and Chloe Goulter brought in the third with a RBI single to left. There were just two hits over the next two frames as the game entered the fifth still 3-0. The Gray Wolves managed to put together five hits in the top of the inning and tied the game briefly. With two outs, Tess Denning got the offense going with a bloop single to short right center and UNOH came alive. Three straight doubles from the heart of the lineup scored three more and put the Racers back up 7-3. Lourdes got one back in the sixth but it would be the last hit of the game giving UNOH the win.
Dani Keighley and Zoe Johnson combined to go 4-6 at the plate with three RBI. Chloe Goulter was the only other Racer with multiple hits going 2-4 with one RBI in the game.
Karsyn McGlothen got her fifth start of the season going four and two thirds innings. McGlothen gave up three runs off nine hits with no walks and a strikeout. Jaylyn Mullenax (5-4) finished off the final two and a third to earn the win with one run given up off two hits and one strikeout.
UNOH will take a brief respite from league games to host two non-conference double heads. Monday, April 10, the Racers will bring in Thomas More at 1:00 PM before wrapping up a ten-game home stand with Ohio Christian on Tuesday at 3:30 PM.
