Racers Split Doubleheader at Madonna

LIVONIA, MI. - A game one pitcher's duel went the way of Madonna (26-10, 9-5) 1-0 but UNOH (25-16, 11-5) responded with a big 5-2 win in game two.

Game 1: Madonna 1 UNOH 0

 Madonna scored the only run of the game in the fourth and Hailee Edgell recorded the only hit for UNOH with a two-out double in the fifth. Carlie Hanes (10-6) pitched her twelveth complete game of the season to take the loss. Hanes gave up one run off six hits with three strikeouts and one walk.

Game 2: UNOH 5 Madonna 2

The Crusaders got on the board first in game two scoring one in their first at bat. The Racers didn't get their first hit of the game until inning three with two outs, but it helped get the UNOH offense started as part of a four run frame. A hit batter, a single and a walk loaded the bases with two outs and back-to-back doubles by Anna Ankney and Dani Keighley put the Racers up 4-1. A RBI groundout got one run back for Madonna but consecutive wild pitches gave the run right back to UNOH in the fourth. The team's combined for just four hits over the next three and a half innings giving UNOH the split.

 The Racer offense was powered by Anna Ankney and Dani Keighley with both going 2-4 at the dish with two RBI each.

Jaylyn Mullenax (8-5) picked up the win after three innings of work giving up two runs off four hits. Kiya Benschoter finished the final four frames giving up just two hits and walking two.

UNOH will double up this weekend with two against Lawrence Tech on Saturday, April 22, and two against Siena Heights on Sunday. 1:00 PM first pitch both days.
