LIMA, OH - After Lawrence Tech (18-19, 9-11) used two home runs to muscle out a 11-7 win in game one, UNOH (26-17, 12-6) locked in and blanked the Blue Devils 9-0 in a five-inning game two.
Game 1: LTU 11 UNOH 7
Lawrence Tech put up one in the first and one in the second to go up 2-0, but UNOH answered back with two of their own in the home second. Hailee Edgell brought in the first with a RBI single to center and Zoe Johnson scored the second after the catcher overthrew second on a steal attempt. A sac fly from Dani Keighley and another error scored two more in the third putting the Racers up 4-2 after three. Sidney Unger added a fifth in the fourth with a RBI fielders choice giving UNOH a 5-2 lead heading into the fifth. The Blue Devils used a grand slam and a three run homer to fuel an eight-run inning taking control of game one. A squeeze play got one back for the Racers in the bottom and an RBI single from Tess Denning scored another in the sixth, but the offense came up empty in the seventh giving Lawrence Tech the win.
Dani Keighley was 2-3, Sidney Unger, Tess Denning and Hailee Edgell went 2-4 and Anna Ankney finished 2-5. Unger, Keighley, Denning, Edgell and Megan Miller each had one RBI in the game.
Carlie Hanes (10-7) took the loss after going four and a third innings. Hanes gave up seven runs off ten hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Kiya Benschoter tossed the final two and two-thirds innings giving up four runs off seven hits with two walks.
Game 2: UNOH 9 LTU 0 (5 Innings)
UNOH wasted no time in game two plating five in their first at-bat. Dani Keighley started things off with a three run home run to dead center, Zoe Johnson followed with a RBI double up the middle and Sydney Feenstra added one more with a RBI single to center. The teams combined for just one hit over the next three innings, the only hit of the game for Lawrence Tech, as the game entered the fifth still 5-0. Back-to-back doubles from Tess Denning and Chloe Goulter scored two and Sydney Feenstra ended the game early with her first triple of the season that cleared the bases and gave UNOH a 9-0 win in five.
Feenstra was the only Racer with multiple hits going 2-3 with a career high three RBI. Dani Keighley finished with three RBI off her homer in the first.
Jaylyn Mullenax (9-5) threw her third complete game shutout of the season giving up just one hit while striking out two.
