Racers Win Final Home Twinbill Over Siena Heights

LIMA, OH - The offense came to play in game one for UNOH (28-17, 14-6) ending the game early with a 9-1 win over Siena Heights (12-27, 8-12). The Racers picked up their second shutout in three games taking their final home game of the season 5-0.

 

Game 1: UNOH 9 SHU 1 (5 Innings)

 The Saints scored their only run of the day with a two-out single in the first inning of game one. After two walks in the bottom, Dani Keighley scored the first for the Racers with a RBI single up the gut. Hailee Edgell brought in two more with her first career triple and Zoe Johnson made it a four-run first with a RBI single to the left center gap. Edgell made it a three-RBI game with a sac fly in the third and Zoe Johnson cracked her fifth home run of the season, a two run shot, that put UNOH up 7-0. Anna Ankney followed a lead off walk with an RBI double to left center before scoring herself on a passed ball. Siena Heights went down in order in the top of the fifth giving the Racers the run-rule win.

 Tess Denning and Zoe Johnson combined to go 4-4 in the game. Johnson plated three RBI and Hailee Edgell brought in three of her own, a career high.

Carlie Hanes (11-7) went all five innings giving up one run off just four hits with four strikeouts and a walk.

 

Game 2: UNOH 5 SHU 0

 Anna Ankney got UNOH on the board first in game two with a double to the fence in center that scored two in the bottom of two. It was another Ankney double in the fourth that scored the third in the fourth. Payton Albright made it 4-0 in the fifth with a double of her own and Dani Keighley scored the fifth with yet another double in the sixth. 

Anna Ankney and Dani Keighley each went 2-4 in the game. Ankney finished with three RBI giving her 50 this season to lead the league. Keighley earned her fourth multi-hit game in the last five with one RBI moving into second place in the WHAC with 44. 

Jaylyn Mullenax (10-5) finished off her strong week with her fourth complete game shutout of the season, her third in eight days and her second in two appearances this weekend. Mullenax scatter just four hits while striking out three with no walks.

 

UNOH will have a short break before wrapping up the regular season at Rochester Saturday, April 29.
