Day Three in Florida Sees UNOH Split with SAU

MELBOURNE, FL - UNOH softball squared off with St. Ambrose in a doubleheader format for their third day in The Sunshine State. The Bees edged out the Racers, 3-2, in game one but UNOH got their revenge in game two with a 5-4 walk off win.
St. Ambrose did all of their scoring in their first at-bat of game one and UNOH got both of theirs in the third. Alexis D'Alexander was the only Racer with multiple hits going 2-4 at the plate. Carlie Hanes (3-3) threw her third complete game of the season to take the loss. Hanes gave up just one earned run on nine hits while striking out four and walking two.
Both teams started quick in game two with the Bees plating two and UNOH bringing in three. After the teams traded runs in the third, St. Ambrose managed to tie the game in the fifth. In the home seventh, Dani Keighley cracked a two-out triple to set up Tess Denning who walked off with a single up the middle. Dani Keighley finished 2-4 and Zoe Johnson went 2-3 at the dish. Kiya Benschoter tossed her first complete game of the season giving up four runs on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
The Racers will be off on Sunday before getting back into the Space Coast Spring Games on Monday against Hastings and Dallas Christian.
