Softball Rips Through Doubleheader at (RV) Concordia
ANN ARBOR, MI - UNOH found little resistance in a quick five-inning 8-0 win in game one before slugging through an 8-4 win in the nightcap at (RV) Concordia.
The first two innings of game one produced just one hit before the Racer bats came alive in the third. Two singles and a sacrifice bunt scored the first run of the game in the third inning followed by an Anna Ankney double and a Dani Keighley home run with two outs that added three more. Tess Denning led off the fourth with a solo shot that opened a five-hit inning that produced four more runs for UNOH. Carlie Hanes (7-4) held the Cardinals at bay giving up just two hits over the five innings to finish off the 8-0 win.
Concordia finally got on the board with a lead off homer in the second inning of game two but UNOH answered one in the third. The Cardinals added one more in the home fourth but Zoe Johnson put the Racers back on top with a three-run home run in the fifth, her third in four games. Again the Cardinals managed one run in the bottom but couldn't slow down the Racer bats. Anna Ankney went yard in the sixth, her first since opening day that plated three and Dani Keighley followed with another to put UNOH up 8-3. A lead off triple set Concordia up for one run in the final at-bat but it was the last of the day giving the Racers the 8-4 win.
Keighley led the team at the dish going 3-4 for her fourth multi-hit game in the last five and extending her hit streak to eleven games. She also homered for the fifth straight game giving her a team high six this season. Zoe Johnson and Payton Albright both finished 2-4 in the game with Johnson and Ankney leading the way with three RBI each. Albright extended her team-leading hit streak to twelve while plating one.
Carlie Hanes started in game two going two innings with one run on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Karsyn McGlothen (8-3) finished the final five allowing three runs on five hits with four strikeouts and one walk.
