SYLVANIA, OH - UNOH softball picked up two more wins at Lourdes on Saturday to extend their winning streak to a record-setting ten straight games.
A a lead-off triple by Alexis D'Alexander and a Zoe Johnson sac fly brought home the first run of the game in the Racers' first at-bat but it took two more innings for them to record another hit. A Dani Keighley lead-off single got things started in the fourth with Payton Albright bringing her home with her second triple of the season. All six batters in the fifth went down in order sending a 2-0 game into the sixth. This time it was Anna Ankney getting UNOH going with a lead-off double. Zoe Johnson followed with a two-run homer, her fourth in five games, and Tess Denning capped the three-run inning with a solo shot that put the Racers up 5-0. Two doubles in the seventh got the Gray Wolves on the board but it was their only run of the game giving UNOH the 5-1 win.
Carlie Hanes (8-4) earned the win in her eighth complete game of the season. She gave up one run on seven hits with nine strikeouts and no walks.
The first two innings of game two produced just two combined hits before UNOH finally got the scoring started with a sac fly in the third. Back-to-back doubles added two for the Racers in the fourth and Tess Denning hit an RBI groundout to put them up 6-0. Lourdes managed one in the bottom but both teams went scoreless in the sixth. The teams each traded two runs in the final frame giving the Racers their tenth consecutive win, 8-3.
Anna Ankney was perfect at the plate going 3-3, her season best, with one RBI. Payton Albright led the team with three RBI while extending her hitting streak to 14-games with multiple eight times during that stretch.
Karsyn McGlothen (9-3) picked up the win after scattering three hits over six innings allowing one run while striking out two. Kiya Benschoter tossed the final inning giving up two runs, one earned, on two hits with one walk and one strikeout.
UNOH will wrap up six-straight on the road with a trip to Cleary (7-15, 2-4) on Wednesday before returning home to face (RV) Indiana Tech (19-8, 1-3) on Saturday.
