Ankney Voted WHAC Player of the Week
For the third time in three weeks, Northwestern Ohio softball has claimed the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Player of the Week. This week, Anna Ankney has been selected from the pool of nominees after putting together her best week of the season. The Racers have now won four of six weekly softball awards over the last three weeks.
Ankney hit .538 for the week (11-20) recording multiple hits in four of six games including a 3-3 performance in game two at Lourdes on Saturday. She tallied three doubles and a home run for a .850 slugging percentage for the week while scoring ten times with five RBI. Ankney has tallied a hit in 14 of the last 15 games and holds a .364 batting average this season. She also leads the team in doubles (9) and triples (5) slugging .648 during her 2024 campaign.
It is the second career POTW award for Ankney and her first this year.
