Softball Winning Streak Snapped in Split with Indiana Tech

LIMA, OH - UNOH softball saw their record-setting winning streak come to an end in a 6-0 loss to Indiana Tech in game one. The Racers rebounded in game two taking down the Warriors, 6-4.

 

The potent Racer offense was shut down in the first game of the day with Indiana Tech scoring four in the second and two in the seventh in a 6-0 game. Alexis D'Alexander and Anna Ankney were the only players to record a hit for UNOH as Carlie Hanes (8-5) took the loss after just two innings of work. Hanes gave up four runs on six hits with one strikeout. Karsyn McGlothen was strong in relief scattering just three hits over four innings with one strikeout. Kiya Benschoter finished off the final inning allowing two runs off three hits with one walk.

The Racers' bats came alive to begin game one linking a single and two doubles to go up 3-0 after one. The Warriors were retired in order in the second and UNOH went to work again. After a Sydney Shaffer walk, Anna Ankney blasted her third home run of the season with two outs. Another walk followed by a Zoe Johnson double plated a third and the Racers took control 6-0 after two. Indiana Tech finally got their offense going with three runs in the fourth before adding one in the sixth. Karsyn McGlothen retired the side in the seventh to give the Racers a 6-4 win.

Anna Ankney and Zoe Johnson were both 2-3 in the game with two and three RBI, respectively. Carlie Hanes started game two going three and two-thirds innings. Hanes allowed three runs, two earned, off six hits with three strikeouts and a walk. Karsyn McGlothen (10-3) continued to shine with three and a third innings of relief work in game two. McGlothen allowed one run off three hits with one strikeout.

 

UNOH hits the road on Sunday for a doubleheader at UM-Dearborn (5-19, 3-5).
