DEFIANCE, OH - The Racer offense came alive Thursday afternoon as they rolled over conference rival Defiance on the road. UNOH racked up 26 runs on 25 hits with 21 RBI over the two games defeating the Yellow Jackets 10-1 and 16-3.
Game one was a tight 2-1 contest through four innings but the Racer offense came alive in the fifth with doubles and two singles that opened the game up with four runs. UNOH added two more in the sixth thanks to a Dani Keighley home run and doubled up again in the seventh to finish off a 10-1 win.
The nightcap sat 3-0 after three but the Racers blew it open with eight runs on five hits in the fourth and four more hits that plated another five in the fifth. All three Yellow Jacket runs came in the final frame off relief pitching in a 16-3 run-rule victory for UNOH. The Racers logged 15 hits, twelve RBI and ten stolen bases in the game, all season highs.
Dani Keighley had a moster day going 5-7 over the two games with three doubles and a homer that drove in five runs. Brenna Cobb finished 4-6 with three RBI including a perfect 3-3 in game two, her third 3-3 game in the last five. Tess Denning and Cecilia Campbell both hit 3-7 bringing home four combined RBI.
Lanie Wooten (11-7) earned the win in game one after six innings of work giving up one run on three hits with four walks and five strikeouts. Karsyn McGlothen (8-6) took game two tossing four innings and allowing just three hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Destiny Warren pitched an inning and two thirds through both games in relief with three runs on four hits striking out two and walking two. Allison Feuerbacher made her first appearance of the season throwing the final out of game two.
UNOH will wrap up a six-game road trip with a pair at Cornerstone Saturday, April 12 followed by two at Aquinas on Sunday.
