Softball Swipes Two from Siena Heights

LIMA, OH - UNOH softball had no trouble dispensing of Siena Heights Friday afternoon winning game one 7-3 and run-ruling game two 13-4.

Back-to-back two-out homers put UNOH up 3-0 in the first inning of the opener, but a pair of errors in the top of the second gave all three runs back. A sac fly in the third put the Racers back on top for good with a sac bunt adding another in the fifth. They added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth off a two-run single but didn't need them as Siena Heights went down in order to finish off the UNOH win.

Dani Keighley led the way with three RBI, scoring two off her conference leading eighth home run of the season, finishing the game 2-3 at the plate. Anna Ankney went 2-4 with a double and her team leading eighth triple of the season. Matilda Newman and Holly Alvoid also both logged a multi-hit game going 2-4 and 2-2, respectively.

Lanie Wooten (16-7) threw her eleventh complete game with all three runs scoring unearned on seven total hits, striking out four and walking two.

Game two saw the Saints strike first but it was all Racers after that. Four straight sac bunts combined with two Siena Heights' errors plated three in the second to put UNOH up 3-1 after two. The home third blew the game open combining six hits, three walks and a error for eight Racer runs and a huge 11-1 lead. A pair of runs scored off an error in the bottom of the fourth to cap the UNOH scoring, but the Saints managed to get three in their final at bat to finish off a 13-4 game.

It was Dani Keighley leading the charge again bringing three runs off a bases loaded double to give her five straight games with multiple RBI and extend her team leading hitting streak to eleven games. Hailee Edgell was also responsible for three runs with Holly Alvoid and Brenna Cobb each recording a multi-hit game.

Karsyn McGlothen (9-8) tossed the first four innings and the final two outs of the game allowing one unearned run on five hits with two walks and a strikeout. Destiny Warren entered in the fifth but could only manage one out giving up three runs on three hits while walking two.

UNOH is now halfway through an eight-game home stand to conclude the WHAC season and will finish with Lourdes on Saturday, April 9 with a week off before the conference finale against UM-Dearborn next Friday.
