UNOH Lights Up Lourdes with 29 Runs in Twinbill Sweep

LIMA, OH - The UNOH offense came alive Saturday afternoon shelling Lourdes with 29 runs on 26 hits over the two games earning a pair of victories on Senior Day.

Lourdes scored first in the opener stringing together three hits in their first at bat but were held to just one more the rest of the game. Dani Keighley put the Racers up in the home first with a two run homer, her fourth in five games. The game fell apart for the Gray Wolves in the bottom of the third as UNOH sent eleven batters to the plate and hit for the cycle as a team scoring eight runs on five hits and stealing seven bases. They added three more in the fourth to finish off a 13-1 win to start the day.

Lanie Wooten (17-7) tossed her twelveth complete game allowing just four hits and no walks over five innings while striking out four.

The offense kept flowing into the nightcap as the Racers rattled off a season high 17 hits with 14 RBI as team, also a season best. They wasted no time getting things started linking six straight hits, including back-to-back doubles, to open their first at bat. The inning produced three runs followed by two more in the second to give them an early 5-0 lead. Like the first game, the third inning was knockout blow with UNOH sending 15 batters to the plate combining eight hits with three errors for a massive ten-run frame. The Racers tripled twice in the frame to set a new program record with 26 this season, the second most in the country. UNOH added a final run in the fourth with the Gray Wolves scoring their lone run in their last at bat giving the Racers a 16-1 victory.

Karsyn McGlothen (10-8) was three outs away from her first career no-hitter, but a double in the fifth broke up the bid. Despite that, McGlothen was in control from start to finish finishing with one run on one hit with three walks and one strikeout.

UNOH posted twelve extra base hits over the two games putting them sixth in the nation with 136 this season. They also racked up eleven stolen bases to add to their single season program record and giving them the nineth most in the country with 120.

Dani Keighley continued her red hot form going 5-6 on the day to extend her team leading hit streak to 13 games. She finished 2-3 with three RBI and 3-3 with four RBI giving her multiple hits in nine of her last 13 games and multiple RBI in seven straight. Her seven total RBI give her 58 this year setting a new single season program record (Zoe Johnson - 53).

Anna Ankney also highlighted senior day by hitting for the cycle in the twinbill. She ended the day 4-6 at the dish with four RBI scoring five times and setting a new program record with 50 runs scored this season (Anna Ankney - 47).
