Racers Split First Home Conference Games

LIMA, OH - UNOH had a tough start to their first home conference games of the year falling to Indiana Tech 10-0 in game one Wednesday. The Racers locked down in the nightcap and used a three-run bomb to split the series with a 3-2 win.

Six Racers were left stranded in the first game as the Warriors scored one in the first, four in the third and five in the seventh. Tayler Braun, Dominique Baker, Hailee Edgell, Cecilia Campbell and Brenna Cobb were responsible for the team's five hits against one of the league's top pitchers.

The offense didn't come any easier in game two but a long ball in the third proved decisive in the end. After Indiana Tech scored off an error in the top, a lead off walk followed by a Tayler Braun single in the bottom put multiple Racer runners on bags for the first and only time all day. Hailee Edgell came up big and ripped her team leading third home run of the season that gave UNOH the lead for good.

The win came despite just three total hits for the Racers thanks to a strong performance in the circle by Lanie Wooten (8-9). She took the decision in both games but powered through game two with just one earned run on only three hits while striking out three and ushering zero free passes.

UNOH will host four more conference games this week with doubleheaders against Cornerstone Friday, March 27, and Aquinas on Saturday.
