2026 Softball Season Recap

LIMA, OH - Coming off the program's best season in its 13 years, UNOH softball found themselves under new leadership in 2026 but still looking to continue their tradition of success. The Racers put together a 27-22 campaign going 12-8 in conference play and finishing tied four fourth in the final WHAC standings. After tie breakers, UNOH earned the four-seed in the WHAC Tournament where they opened with a 4-3 win in extra innings over Cornerstone making it three consecutive seasons with at least one post season victory and eight times in the last ten years.

The season was highlighted by a historic upset of No. 2 Madonna University on April 11 where they handed the Crusaders their first conference loss since April 27, 2023. The 3-2 win marked the program's highest ranked victory ever and it's fourth top ten win in the last two seasons.

UNOH pitchers held opponents to a .271 batting average and carried a 3.55 team ERA. Thirty times Racer hurlers went the distance in 2026 marking the most since 2022 led by sophomore Lanie Wooten who logged 20 complete games, the fourth most in a single season. Senior Karsyn McGlothen climbed the ladder to third all-time in career appearances (97) and starts (59) finishing her career with the second best opponent batting average ever at .260.

Offensively, junior transfer Tayler Braun made a splash in the lead off position powering her team with 174 hits, the program's third most in a season, and logging the program's second best hit streak ever at 16 games, the most in a season since 2015. Braun's six triples this year tie for the second most in a single season while successfully stealing 21 of 23 times.

Sophomore catcher Cecilia Campbell was an anchor behind the dish gunning down eleven runners that put her second behind only her own record of 13 set last season. She also ended the year with a .995 fielding percentage which is the program's best since 2022 and second best ever. Campbell also earned the team's only All-WHAC First Team honor for her efforts.

Senior outfielder Hailee Edgell became the all-time leader in games played, taking the field 194 times over her four seasons and ending second with 14 career triples and third with 35 career stolen bases.

Seven Racers earned WHAC All-Academic mentions led by Edgell and Sydney Feenstra who both picked up the second of their careers. Edgell was also the only player to land NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors doing so for the first time in her career.
