Women's Basketball: Racers Fall at Rochester
ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – UNOH (8-8, 4-6) traveled to Rochester University (10-8, 8-2) Wednesday Night, January 11. Despite a tight game in the first half, the Warriors hot shooting in the third quarter was too much to overcome as the Racers fell 82-61.
In the first quarter, the lead swung back and fourth before Rochester managed to take a four-point advantage into the second. Even though the Warriors extended their lead to six in the frame, the Racers fought back to tie the game at 33 with 1:15 left before half. From that point forward, the Warriors controlled nearly every aspect of the game after riding a 7-0 run into the break. Rochester took advantage of their late first half momentum and some untimely Racer turnovers in the third to put together a 29-5 run heading into the fourth en route to a comfortable win.
Alysia Lawson (FR/Toledo, Ohio) led the Racers with a game high 16 points. Lawson shot 46% from the field while collecting a game high six assists and five rebounds. Mar Marata Crespo (SR/Girona, Spain), Trinity Black Raines (JR/Beecher, Michigan), and Kalea Kruser (SR/Madison, Wisconsin) all finished in double-figures. Marata finished with eleven points seven rebounds and three assists while Raines added twelve points. Kruser recorded her first career double-double bagging eleven rebounds to go with her ten points in the game.
As a team, the Racers outperformed the Warriors shooting 46% in the game while holding Rochester to 41%. UNOH also dominated from outside, netting 30% of their three-pointers while giving up just 12%.
