Women's Basketball: Offensive Explosion as Racers Roll Thunderhawks
MIDDLETOWN, OH - UNOH (10-11) saw their offense come alive Monday night in a 98-60 win at Miami-Middletown (3-13), the program's highest offensive production since February 18, 2015 (Madonna - 98).
The Racers started hot with a 29-12 performance in the first quarter and never looked back. Another 23 in the second and UNOH was comfortably up 52-26 at the break. After a tight third quarter, the Racers finished off the night with a 12-1 run to take their biggest win of the season.
Alysia Lawson (FR/Toledo, Ohio) led all scorers with 26 points while shooting a career high 69% (9-13) from the field. Lawson knocked down three of six three-pointers while hitting all five attempts from the charity stripe. Jada Haines (SR/Akron, Ohio) added 24 points with six rebounds and three assists. Trinity Black Raines (JR/Beecher, Michigan) recorded 22 points off the bench shooting 73% from the field including five of eight from long range, all career highs. Mar Marata Crespo (SR/Girona, Spain) chipped in eleven points and Kalea Kruser (SR/Madison, Wisconsin) grabbed a game-high nine boards.
As a team, UNOH won the rebound battle 47-46 while pulling down a season high 17 offensive boards. The Racers made a season high 36 field goals shooting 47% from the field and 40% from outside. UNOH also racked up a season high 19 assists, the program's most since February 5, 2020 (Cornerstone - 20), with just two turnovers, the fewest in program history.
The Racers open the final month of the season with their fourth of a four game road trip at Madonna Wednesday, February 1.
