Women's Basketball: UNOH Loses Battle at Lourdes

LIMA, OH – It was a hotly contested game between UNOH (12-13, 7-11) and Lourdes (9-17, 6-12) that saw 17 lead changes and nine ties and stayed within two possessions for all but 16 seconds. In the end, it was the Gray Wolves who scored the final six points to take an 83-78 win.

The first quarter was tight with UNOH holding a 21-17 lead after one. The game continued the trend into the second with the Gray Wolves holding a one-point lead at the break. Coming out of the locker rooms, neither team was able to take control of the game as the teams headed into the final stanza locked at 62. The Racers led for all but 47 seconds of the frame, but it was the final six points that spoiled the day as The Grey Wolves knocked down their final two free throws to ice the game and send UNOH home empty-handed.

Ana Montero Sanz (SO/Madrid, Spain) led all scorers matching her career high with 27 points, her third 20+ outing in the last four games. Montero shot 71% from the field hitting twelve of 17 shots, all career highs, while adding four rebounds, three steals and one assist. Jada Haines (SR/Akron, Ohio) finished with 23 points and six boards while going a perfect 7-7 from the charity stripe. Alysia Lawson (FR/Toledo, Ohio) recorded her fifth 20+ point game of the season adding four rebounds, two steals and two assists. Mar Marata Crespo (SR/Girona, Spain) grabbed a game-high nine boards.

UNOH shot 51% from the field while holding Lourdes to just 43% while topping the Grey Wolves from outside 38% to just 24%.
