Women's Basketball Runs Away from Middletown 97-56

LIMA, OH - UNOH produced a steady flow of offense through all four quarters as they pulled away from Miami-Middletown snapping a two-game losing skid with a 97-56 win at home. The 41-point margin is the program's largest win since January 27, 2016 (Marygrove - 42).

 

The Racers fell behind out of the gate and had to play from behind about for half of the first quarter. After taking a 14-12 lead at the 4:58 mark, they never trailed again. UNOH led 22-16 after one but outscored the Thunderhawks 28-13 in the second for a 50-29 at the break. The offense kept producing in the second half with 23 in the third and 24 in the fourth while the defense held Miami-Middletown to just 27 points over the two quarters as the Racers pulled away for a 41-point victory.

Alysia Lawson led all scorers with 22 points, her third 20+ point outing in the first four games of the season. Lawson shot 9-19 (47%) from the field while pulling down five boards with three assists and a steal. Alycia Patterson set a new career high with UNOH scoring 19 points on 6-11 (55%) shooting and knocking down a game high five of six free throw attempts. Patterson also added five assists, four steals and four rebounds. Olivia Thompson also hit a new career mark with 13 points off the bench. Thomas was 6-13 (46%) from the field with five rebounds and three steals. Alayha Allen finished as the fourth Racers in double-figures. Allen had ten points and eight rebounds with two blocks in the game.

All nine participating Racers got in the scoring column as the team shot 51% from the field. UNOH forced a season high 32 turnovers racking up 18 steals, the program's most since November 19, 2016 (Marygrove - 20). 

 

UNOH will wrap up a three-game home stand on Saturday, November 11, when the face Penn State Greater Allegheny at 6:00 PM.
