Fourth Quarter Runaway Lifts Racers Over Wolverines 82-59

LIMA, OH - UNOH outscored UM-Dearborn by 16 points in the final stanza, turning a 7-point lead into a 23-point victory for their first conference win of the season.

 

Both teams were slow out of the game with just 18 total points scored in the first quarter. Things picked up in the second with the Wolverines cutting the Racer lead to just four at the break. The third opened with UM-Dearborn netting the first four points to tie the game at 31, but it was the only tie of the game as UNOH shifted into gear entering final frame of the night and pulled away for the 82-59 win.

Alysia Lawson led all players with a career high 29 points shooting 10-23 (43%) from the field, 4-9 (44%) from outside and 5-6 (83%) from the charity stripe. Alycia Patterson tabbed a season high with 23 points hitting five of nine from long range and Ana Montero Sanz added 15 off the bench in her first appearance since November 4. 

Alayha Allen dominated on the boards grabbing 19 rebounds in the game, the second most in program history (Fataya Larry - 20). Allen also added three more blocks to her season tally, moving into a tie for the fourth most all-time with 27. 

As a team, UNOH shot 42% from 3-point range going 14-33 in the game. The Racers held a slight edge on the boards 47-43 but turned 15 turnovers into 17 points while giving up a season low six and five.

 

UNOH will stay home to host Rochester next on Wednesday, January 17, at 5:30 PM.
